EARLYSTAGES: THE GIVER CLOSES 2007-2007 EarlyStages Season
Based on the Newbery-Award winning book by Lois Lowry, a favorite of many students, The Giver closes the 2007-2008 EarlyStages season with the story of twelve-year-old Jonas. In Jonas’ world, everything is under control. There are no choices; everyone’s role is flawlessly assigned. When Jonas, along with others of his age group, receives his life's assignment, he is given the most respected job, “Receiver of Memory,” transferred from The Giver. During his training Jonas discovers his community is ruled by a lie, and set out to change his world.

STAGES HOSTS COOPERATIVE AUDITIONS MAY 31 & JUNE 1
Over 20 area theatre companies will hold general auditions for adult actors (ages 18 and up) on May 31 and June 1 at Stages. Registration deadline is May 23.

The Young Actors Conservatory is a unique four-week summer intensive that offers conservatory-style training for Houston-area middle and high school students. Led by recognized theatre professionals, YAC classes and laboratories encourage participants to explore every facet of dramatic production.
